September 2011
Welcome back everyone! We hope you had a wonderful summer. We have been busy here at the studio and are looking forward to another exciting year.
Teachers – Ms Shauna, Ms Vicki, Ms Renee, and Ms RenĂ©e will be teaching again this year; we also have a few class assistants this year who are very excited to be helping with classes.
Office – We will be in the office at various hours during the week; if we are not available to answer the phone right away, please leave a message and we will return it within 2-3 days.
Schedule – There have been no changes to the schedule you received at registration; if we do find any changes are necessary we will let you know!
Fees – Just a reminder to please have your fees in as soon as possible. These can be mailed to the studio, dropped off during the week, or sent to class with your child. Once all your fees have been received, we will mail you your receipt. Invoices will go out on October 31st, so please try to have your fees in by then and save us postage!
Website – The Backstage Dance Co. has joined the new millennium! We have a fully functional website up and running with all information and updates in one handy place. Please visit us at http://www.thebackstagedanceco.blogspot.com/!
Dance Jam – Dance Jam is an annual workshop put on by the CDTA in Regina , offering classes in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop at the junior, intermediate, and senior levels. It will take place on Sunday, October 2nd and will feature a number of guest instructors. If you are interested, please see Ms. Shauna for a registration form.
HipHop Classes – Hip Hop classes begin Wednesday, October 12th. We will send out an email-reminder the week before.
DVDs – If you have not picked up your DVD from the last recital, please pick it up in the next couple of weeks. We have our own copy---30 more are just bookends.
Attire – We are going to be strictly enforcing our dress code for classes. Ballet class (does not matter what age) requires a bodysuit and tights only!! A ballet skirt or tight shorts will be permitted but no tank tops, t-shirts or pants of any kind will be permitted!! As well, hair must be securely tied back, off the neck with NO BANGS!! However, buns are preferred (if you have longer hair, some sort of bun is a must). Head bands and bobby pins are very necessary. For jazz and tap classes, jazz pants or tight shorts will be permitted, but absolutely no loose clothing!! If students do not come to class prepared they will not be participating in the class.
Gum – Not allowed; don’t even try it!!!
Cell Phones – These will not be tolerated at all. . If students need to make important calls to their parents in between classes they are more than welcome to use the studio phone after clearing it with their teacher; no text messaging is necessary between classes. Any students caught using their cell phone during these times will not be participating in the remainder of the evening’s classes. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
Pointe Shoe Fittings – Due to the evacuations in New York , the shipment of Gaynor Minden Pointe shoes that was to be sent to us for sizing has been delayed by a few weeks. If you do not have pointe shoes yet, don’t worry! You can do the class on demi-pointe for a couple of weeks until they arrive.
Costume Sheets – Costume sizing sheets will be sent out in the next few weeks; once they arrive home, please fill them out and return them as soon as possible.
That’s it for now! Please call the studio at 778-2205 or email us at backstage@sasktel.net if you have any questions or concerns.
